10. The Badlands of Utah, USA
The badlands are the type of a vast terrain – dry, eroded and with a minimal vegetation. However, as arid as the badlands are, they still are full of surprises. Photographer Gyu Tal has depicted a very rare phenomenon, that occurs in Utah every couple of years. Only for a few days this vast area gets covered in Scorpionweed and Beeplant, turning the badlands into a purple or yellow fragrant sea.
When to go there?
Anytime. Although for the blooming flowers you have to be really dedicated and follow the weather forecast, as there is no exact date for this mysterious phenomenon, except that it happens in spring, when the moister is just right.
How to get there?
By car via 72 or 24 Highways.

9. Mt. Hwangmaesan, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea
At 1108 m (3635 ft) tall, the mountain is a popular spot because of Haeinsa – a Buddhist temple, housing a 13th century collection of the Buddhist scriptures – and flowers. Every spring fields around the mountain’s peak get covered in thousands of royal azaleas. To preserve the flowers, locals have been holding the Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival since 1997 and come to admire the fragrant plants.
Why to go there?
Besides a beautiful scenery, various events take place in spring as well. Royal azaleas bloom in May, so plan your trip then.
How to get there?
By bus from Seoul to Hapcheon. There are tours to Haeinsa Temple that usually include visiting Mt. Hwangmaesan as well. Bus will also take you to the top and the fields.

8. Casablanca Valley, Chile
It is autumn in the southern hemisphere, which means that the harvest is being taken in Chile. The Casablanca Valley is a beautiful place, where Mediterranean climate takes place. Here delicious wine is being produced. Wineries open their doors for the wine tasting tours, while adorable boutique hotels accommodate the guests.
Why to go there?
It is possible to go an a guided tour as well as on your own. Wine, great restaurants and spectacular views make it a wonderful weekend trip from March to June.
How to get there?
It is only a one hour drive from Santiago. Therefore it is a great destination for the day trippers.

7. Tasmania, Australia
The island state is proud of its unspoiled nature and huge Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Although it is autumn at the time in this part of the world, the colorful foliage, covering the mountainous landscape, creates some of the most captivating views. Besides the pleasant temperatures, March and April are the best for hiking and exploring this wonderful island.

6. The Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland
This is one of the most beautiful routes in the whole continent. Stretching from County Donegal to County Cork, the Wild Atlantic Way whirls along the dramatic western coast of the country. Although it is really long – 2400 km (1491 mi) – one can drive it in small sections, passing by the cities, scattered around the road. In addition, various fun festivals take place in these towns in spring.
When to go there?
Visit Cork and St. Patrick’s Festival on 14-17 March, Galway Food Festival on 2-6 April and Connemara Mussel Festival on 1-3 May.
How to get there?
The best and easiest way to travel the road is of course by car. However, some sections are available to complete by cycling as it indeed promises some wonderful views.

5. Wanaka Vineyards, New Zealand
The beautiful resort town in the South Island attracts guests all year round: it offers skiing resorts in winter; hiking, mountain biking, fishing and more in summer. But in autumn, which takes place from March to June, wineries celebrate the harvest. Wanaka is the most famous wine region here, while Rippon Winery is known to be the most photographed vineyard in the world! So sign up for a wine tour and get there sometime soon.
When to go there?
Gibbston Harvest Festival takes place on the third Saturday of March; Clyde Wine And Food Harvest Festival – on Easter Sunday. However, vineyards are open all year round and gladly welcome the visitors.
How to get there?
It is only an hour drive from Queenstown Airport. Get there directly from Australia or any bigger city in New Zealand.

4. Anza-Borrego, California, USA
The largest park in California greets the spring with unexpectedly blossoming desert. Visitors should definitely hike the Borrego Palm Canyon Trail – a 5 km (3 mi) long route, which passes by the blooming fields of brittlebush, desert lavender, sand verbena and ocotillo. Hellhole Canyon is covered in barrel cactus, lupine and phacelia, that are accompanied by beautiful Maidenhair Falls.
Why to go there?
The desert itself is a stunning place to visit: it is more than just a plane of sand – its rough and mountainous surface, canyons and hiking trails provide great sights and outdoor fun.
How to get there?
It is about a two hours trip from San Diego and Palm Springs; a three hour drive from LA. There is also a bus service that operates from San Diego.

3. Palawan, Philippines
Palawan Island is the largest one of the same name province, which consists of approximately 1780 islands. The biggest one is very popular among the tourists for its unspoiled wildlife, lush jungle, mountains, white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. Meanwhile in the northern part of Palawan there is El Nido, which is famous for mesmerizing vertical limestone cliffs.

1. National Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington, D.C., USA
In 1912 the people of Tokyo have given the city 3000 sakuras. Ever since every spring blossoms with wonderful symbol of Japanese culture. But it is even more than beautiful Cherry Blossom trees.
