The Guoliang Tunnel Road, Henan Province, China. This might very well be one of the most impressive roads in the world. Carved into the Taihang Mountains, the tunnel road has provided an access to the remote village of Guoliang.
Guoliang is surrounded with the steep mountains, therefore it was inevitable to construct the road. It stretches for 1.2 km (0.75 mi), is 5 m (16 ft) tall and 4 m (13 ft) wide. Since its opening in 1977 the tunnel not only connected the village with the rest of the world, but also has become a popular tourist attraction.
Why to go there?
A unique opportunity to drive inside of the mountain. It provides a truly scenic and breathtaking ride.
