Paterswoldse Meer – the Best Skating Rink in the Netherlands
Paterswoldse Meer, Groningen, the Netherlands. The lake is found in the southwestern part of the city, which is among the largest towns in the country. While in summer the lake is a nice place to relax, go boating and kayaking, in winter it becomes a huge natural skating rink.
The recreational site attracts many visitors: it is loved by the locals as well as the tourists. The skating experience is special due to its natural spectacular surroundings. Just take a look at these great pictures that depict happy people having the best winter time!
Why to go there?
The lake is a popular recreational area all year round. Meanwhile in winter it proves to be one of the best skating rinks in the country.
When to go there?
From December to February. However you would have to make sure that temperatures are low enough and that the ice is frozen.
How to get there?
The lake lies 15 km (10 mi) from Groningen. The best way to get there is by car.
