Madrid Music Guide – Best Places to Visit

The Spanish have a truly special appreciation for the music of the world. The Royal Palace of Madrid and the Plaza Mayor may bring tourists to their doorsteps, but it is certainly the music that brings them to the heart of Madrid.

Live Music

Madrid music venues are practically as numerous and as brilliant as the stars in the sky. Café La Palma is one of the best places in Madrid to catch all genres of performances. Live bands, DJs, pillow rooms, café style rooms and so much more await you at La Palma!
Nasti Club is an indie rock and post punk venue that is hidden behind the exterior of what appears to be an abandoned building. La Boca del Lobo is the place to be for variety. Once solely dedicated to rock and alternative genres, Boca del Lobo has expanded their variety of music to include just about everything from reggae to ska.
Sala Clamores is another metamorphosed venue that once catered to just jazz. The sets seen in Sala Clamores today are of an assortment of amazing genres. BarCo is another great Madrid music venue that caters to jazz, flamenco, Latin music and so much more. Segundo JazzEl Junco Jazz Cluband El Despertar are just some of the other fantastic jazz clubs in this buzzing Spanish city.

Nightclubs

The nightclub scene in Madrid is alive and kicking until the early hours of the morning. The most popular and infamous club in Madrid is definitely Kapital. With seven stories and everything from salsa to house music to soul, Kapital makes for one hell of a night out on the town.

Joy Eslava is a fabulous nightclub in an old theatre. Though lines are long and the place generally packed, once you make it to the dance floor you will have the time of your life.
Travelers that prefer a more secluded and chic experience should most certainly stop by The Roof. Located on the 7th floor and with high cover costs, this open-air cocktail bar is sophisticated and relaxing. The dress policy is classy and the drinks seem to be made for a king.

Music Festivals and Concerts

Gigs in Madrid are so diverse and special that when festival season starts in late May, thousands flock to the bustling capital for a taste of musical Madrid. Festimad is an amazing celebration of famous Spanish bands as well as international acts. Former performers include the Pixies, Pearl Jam, Ben Harper and so many others.

San Isidro is the celebration day of Madrid’s patron saint. Musicians can be heard performing their art on nearly every street corner in downtown Madrid as the city celebrates the arts.
The Sala Arena and La Riviera are two of the largest venues in Madrid. Riviera has hosted Adele, M.I.A., Billy Idol, Afrojack and other big names in music. Sala is certainly a place for arena rock as heavy rock and metal bands perform here often. Famous bands like AC/DC, Coldplay and Radiohead have performed live at the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, a famous bull fighting ring in Madrid
