Turkish Airlines

Established in 1933 with a fleet of only five airplanes, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is today a four-star airline with a fleet of 234 aircraft (passenger and cargo) flying to 243 cities around the world.
One of the fastest growing airlines, it has received several “Passenger Choice Awards”from Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX). In 2013, Turkish Airlines, for the third consecutive year, was named “Best Airline in Europe” by Skytrax. A winner of the “World’s Best Economy Class On-Board Catering” award, Turkish Airlines was also the recipient of the Skytrax “Best Business Class Catering” award in 2013.

Turkish Airlines flies to more countries in the world than any other airline (105 countries over five continents) according to UMB’s Official Airline Guide.     For flights from Jakarta and Norway the free baggage allowance is 40 kg total for the Business Class travelers and 30 kg for the Economy Class travelers.

    For flights from Egypt to Turkey and from Turkey to Egypt, the free baggage allowances is 50 Kg for both Economy class travellers and Business class travellers. 

    Free baggage allowance from Germany to Turkey and Beyond Turkey for Economy Class is 30 kg and for Business Class 40 kg.
    For flights from Ireland the free baggage allowance is 30 kg. for the economy class and 40 kg. for the Business Class travelers

    Baggage weight as measured by weighing systems are included in the passengers maximum baggage weight. There is no limit to number of pieces of baggage.

    MSC (Most Significant Carrier)
    If another airline is involved in your whole journey; the most significant carrier’s (MSC) free baggage allowance rule will be applied. MSC is assigned according to which airline operates the most significant and/or longest part of the journey.
    If Turkish Airline is MSC in your journey then Turkish Airline’s free baggage allowance will apply, if another airline is MSC in your journey than the free baggage allowance of that airline will apply.

    Note for passengers traveling between Brazil/Argentina and Turkey & Beyond Turkey destinations:

    For flights to/from Brazil and Argentina (the first flight of the journey on the ticket) passengers from all cabin classes may check two pieces of luggage for their free baggage allowance. Flights departing from Brazil/Argentina have allowances of 32 kg per bag for the entirety of the journey. Flights with final destinations of Brazil/Argentina have a baggage allowances of 23 kg per bag for passengers traveling economy, and 32 kg per bag for passengers traveling business.

    ** For travelling originating from SAO  to SIN, KUL, CGK, BKK, MLE free baggage allowance is applied as 2 pcs and each piece 32 kg.  As of 26 September 2013, instead of 2 pcs X 32 kg, passengers can also bring 1 pcs X 32 kg and 1 surfboard bag which includes 3 surfboard with max 3 metres and not heavier than 32 kg for total weight. If passengers bring more than 3 surfboard, sports equipments and bicycle charges will apply for each extra piece.

    In Turkish Airlines direct flights to airports in North America (New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Toronto) the free baggage allowance is 2 pieces.

    ** Free baggage allowance on economy cabin is 1X32 KG for travelling between Kinshasa and London/Brussels/Paris/Beirut/Turkey destination and between the dates of 15 June – 15 September, 15 November – 15 January, 1 April – 15 April. In this period, travelling to/from all other destinations to/from Kinshasa, free baggage allowance on economy cabin is 2X23 KG.
    Travelling dates which are out of 15 June – 15 September, 15 November – 15 January, 1 April – 15 April, to/from ALL destinations to/from Kinshasa is applied as 2X23 KG free baggage allowance on economy cabin.
    ** Free baggage allowance in all from Niamey (NIM) outbound flights to Dubai (DXB), is applied as 2X32 Kg
    **Free baggage allowance will apply 2 pieces for all interline flights to/from America in which ticketing and travelling date begin on 1 December, 2012.
